2 a. What about your professional experiences has led you to determine that business school is the right next step? (150 words)

When I joined the International Labor Affairs Bureau, I believed that every child that I helped remove from hazardous work led to an improved and happier life.  In time, I learned that what sounds good in principle is murkier in practice.  For example, we helped remove children from Bangladesh garment factories…only to find many started ......

2b. As you have researched MBA programs, what actions have you taken to learn more about Ross and what has led you to believe that Ross is the right MBA program for you? (150 words)

We were leaving the U.S. Embassy in Rangoon, when I met its newest foreign service officer. xxxxxxxxx (’13) had heard I was applying and enthusiastically described Ross, particularly her MAP experience.  Inspired, I visited Ross on 11/11/13, and her description came to life. As a budding entrepreneur, I’ll particularly benefit from the Zell Laurie ...............

2c. What career do you plan to pursue after business school and why? (150 words)

For six years, I have designed/managed a grant portfolio that funds efforts to improve labor conditions.  Post-MBA, I will prove that having better conditions isn’t only morally right, but also makes good business sense.  My long-term career goal is to start my own company that becomes an industry leader in both labor and environmental standards, ....

3. Describe a time in your career when you were frustrated or disappointed. What advice would you give to a colleague who was dealing with a similar situation? (400 word maximum)

Several years ago, I had an idea to revolutionize how organizations working on women’s issues globally would connect and collaborate.  Through forming a Wikipedia of women’s organizations, I believed that I would help launch a global women’s movement.  Soon, I’d recruited a collaborator, volunteer staff, and a web-designer. .....
